| COTILLION AUSTIN-STYLE
"Riley would never have had the confidence
to waltz in front of a crowd if he hadn't taken Cotillion."
Mary T.
The mission of Cotillion Austin-Style is to provide
training in basic etiquette, communication skills, and social dance
to boys and girls in the 10-13 age range. With our 40+ years of
experience in dance education and a continuing emphasis on appropriate
behavior and good manners, the Shirley McPhail School of Dance is
a natural fit for a Cotillion program.
"Cotillion" originally meant a specific
French dance, but in the U.S. it has come to mean a course of etiquette
training including social dance. SMSD Cotillion students learn how
to act and to treat others with honor, dignity and respect, resulting
in better relationships with family, friends and business associates
later in life.

QUOTES FROM STUDENTS
“I’ve learned a lot at Cotillion,
like how to eat soup with a spoon, where the silverware goes on
the table, and where the cup and bread plate goes. I also learned
a lot of new dances.”
“My favorite part of Cotillion is the
dancing. In my opinion, the “Swing” is the best dance
we have learned so far.”
”I’ve been giving pointers to
my mom, dad, and sister on what to do and what not to do.”
“I have enjoyed Cotillion because it
helps improve my dance skills and teaches me how to behave in
a public place or at a restaurant.”
“Cotillion is really cool.”
“I like Cotillion because we do a lot
of dancing and I had no experience with this before.”
