Dancing - and more importantly, teaching dance, has been my gift from God - my joy in life - my passion! I am continually awed by the world of dance and am extremely proud of the program we have built at Shirley McPhail School of Dance. It is my hope you will find our school to be the place where you or your child well be able to experience the wondrous joy of dance. My mother, Shirley McPhail, founded the dance school in 1970. I began dance classes at the age of 2, started teaching while still in high school, and studied dance at Sullins College and the The University of Texas. When my mother died in 1997, I became Owner/Director of The Shirley McPhail School of Dance. We offer dance classes in tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, hip-hop, modern dance and Pilates. Our most popular class is our Combination class, which includes ballet, tap and tumbling. We also offer classes in Cotillion for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls, as well as musical theater for ages 5-12. Classes for adults are available at both studios. We think you will find the Shirley McPhail School of Dance a special place—for the young and the “young at heart”!
