When my daughter was three years old, Miss Trish was her very first teacher at SMSD. Miss Trish's enthusiasm and warmth first sparked my daughter's love of dance. She was delighted to gallop around the studio on a stick horse and perform her "criss cross applesauce" routine. Now, at 13, Marlee is a member of the SMSD Dance Troupe and takes ballet, jazz and tap very seriously. SMSD provides an environment that teaches proper technique in a nurturing setting. The classes and Troupe activities provide hours of entertainment and learning, and Marlee is developing into a beautiful dancer.

SMSD PERFORMING TROUPE

The SMSD Performing Troupe is made up of students from the Shirley McPhail School of Dance. To perform with the Troupe, a student must pass an audition held in August, be at least 9 years old, with a minimum of 3 years dance experience and maintain weekly attendance in Ballet, Tap & Jazz.

Rehearsals are held on Saturdays. In addition to performing in SMSD recitals, the Troupe holds a spring show and performs in various holiday events, as well as civic, school and community functions throughout the year.
